Abrams came to The Weather Channel in 2003 and distinguished herself while reporting live from the affected area during the historic 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons. Ms. Abrams says she was most impacted by hurricane Katrina, which she covered extensively in August 2005. In a feature article about her in News, she pointed out that when viewers see her in the harsh conditions that the weather is causing, they understand how serious the situation is and realize they need to take action to keep safe. Ms. Abrams has had experience covering other types of severe weather for TWC as well. These assignments have included flooding in New York, tornadoes in Illinois, a heat wave in Missouri, snowstorms in the Northeast, as well as an ice storm in the Southeast. With the launch of a new program Weekend View in 2005, she became the meteorologist who provided reports each weekend from wherever the weather was having the biggest impact. Her assignments also included weather reports from major sporting events in the country like The Daytona 500, The Kentucky Derby, The Chicago Marathon, and Major League Baseball Spring Training.
Abrams has made guest appearances on Entertainment Tonight, CNN Showbiz Tonight, and The Geraldo Rivera Show. Before joining The Weather Channel, she was the morning meteorologist at WTXL in Tallahassee.
