American actress and voice actress Sanaa Lathan was born on 19 September 1971, in New York City, New York, USA as Sanaa McCoy Lathan. Her mother Eleanor McCoy performed on Broadway with the likes of Eartha Kitt, and her father Stan Lathan worked behind the scenes in television for PBS. She was exposed to the world of entertainment and starred at a very early age, which had a profound impact upon her life. She was nurtured in athletics and the arts as a child, through training in Gymnastics and Dance. She later became a child of divorced parents, whom she remained closely connected to, by being shuttled to live between them, both, in New York and Los Angeles. Those loving, supportive parents, the extremes of the public schools of New York City and the riches of the 90210 Beverly Hills High served to build a humble spirit, competitive nature and a full awareness of self within her. She graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in English. Lathan also graduated at Yale University with a degree in Drama.
After graduating from the Yale School of Drama, she hosted a number of TV shows, eventually winning a series-regular spot in 1998 on the short-lived Nightline spoof Lateline. That same year, Lathan made much more of an impression with a small but memorably oedipal part as Wesley Snipes' mama in the vampire flick Blade. A string of successively larger roles in African-American-oriented movies upped her profile, two of them, 1999's The Wood and 2000's Love & Basketball, opposite her then-boyfriend, Omar Epps. In the latter, she and Epps were perfectly matched physically as both lovers and competitive athletes, and Lathan won a number of awards (Image, Black Reel and BET) for her multifaceted performance. But it was her turn as a butt-kicking beauty in the wildly successful 2004 thriller Alien vs. Predator that made her a familiar face to the masses, even if the flick showed off her body more than her brains. A Tony-nominated turn in the Broadway revival of A Raisin in the Sun that same year proved she could still deliver a thoughtful performance. In 2006, she signed on to the sexy series Nip/Tuck as the mysterious boss of two morally challenged plastic surgeons, and in 2009, she began voice-over work on Fox's The Cleveland Show.
A citizen of USA and from black ethnicity, she is tall with a height of five feet and seven inches. She has also maintained her weight accordingly. She has an attractive body and also has beautiful feet and legs. Her pictures are widely popular among internet users.

Talking about her relationship life, she had previously married Omar Epps and they have already separated. She lives a single life. She does not reveal her personal life in the media.
