American actor and model from Free Home, Georgia, Josh Holloway was born on July 20, 1969 in San Jose, California, USA as Josh Lee Holloway. His family moved to Free Home, Georgia, a small farming town in the Blue Ridge Mountains, while he was still an infant. His mother worked as a nurse. His father completed two years of medical school before dropping out. His parents' medical training often came in handy because Holloway and his three brothers roughhoused constantly. Holloway's family often faced tough financial straits. He grew up in a trailer park. He began working part-time at the age of 11, collecting chicken carcasses on nearby farms. Holloway was also a film buff as a child though he was always an outdoorsman, and he particularly loved the psychedelic horror film The Shining (1980). Holloway attended Marie Tesley Middle School and then Cherokee High School in Canton, Georgia. He enrolled at the University of Georgia after graduating from high school in 1987. His education was partially funded by a brief stint as a shoplifter. He dropped out of college after only one quarter due to financial constraints, and he had lack of interest in his studies.
Josh appeared as a purse snatcher in the Aerosmith music video for "Cryin” in 1993. Several years had passed before he made his television debut as the "Good Looking Guy" in a 1999 episode of Angel. Holloway took on small independent film projects during the next five years, which included Cold Heart (2001), Moving August (2002), and Dr. Benny (2003). Josh kept a development company in Georgia and a French-Vietnamese restaurant in Los Angeles while finding his stride professionally. Holloway almost gave up on his dream in exchange for a more financially viable career in real estate at one point of time. But he landed the part of James "Sawyer" Ford on the J.J. Abrams sci-fi drama Lost, several days after receiving his license as a real estate agent. Josh's character was known as the guy with the toughest of exteriors but who had a soft spot for Kate Austen (played by Evangeline Lilly), early on in the series, who had a shady and colorful past alike him. Sawyer was also famous for his wisecrack remarks and monikers for his island co-inhabitants aside from his penchant for taking his shirt off. Holloway won a Saturn Award in June 2010 for "Best Actor on Television" for his role on Lost and in September 2010, he was added to the cast of Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol.
Talking about his personal life, he is married to Yessica Kumala. When he stopped shooting the pilot of Lost in Hawaii, he proposed to his girlfriend, Yessica Kumala. They later married on October 1, 2004. On April 9, 2009, they had their first child, Java Kumala. On November 19, 2013, Holloway announced their second child was on the way. Standing six feet and one and a half inches tall and having a pleasant personality and an influencing voice, Holloway's interests include boating, sailing, snowboarding, martial arts, fly-fishing, and the guitar. His pictures are found in abundance all over the internet. He is from white ethnicity. He has gone shirtless on many occasions and women are deeply attracted to his body, voice and acting. He has a promising career ahead.
