A Scottish actor, who is best known for his roles as the tenth incarnation of the Doctor in the British television series Doctor Who, the title role in the TV serial Casanova (2005) and as Barty Crouch, Jr., in the film Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), David Tennant, was born on April 18, 1971, in Bathgate, United Kingdom as David John McDonald. He was born to a father who was a Presbyterian minister. He decided to become an actor when he was about 3 or 4 years old, inspired by his love of the BBC show "Doctor Who."

He was brought up in Bathgate, West Lothian and Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. He was a huge fan of the band The Proclaimers. He attended Paisley Grammar school and while he was there he wrote about how he wanted to become a professional actor and play the role of the Doctor in "Doctor Who."

He made his first television appearance when he was 16, which was also his first professional acting job, after his father sent some photos of him to a casting director at Scottish television. He also attended a youth theatre group at weekends run by the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. He auditioned for and won a place at the RSAMD when he was 16; the youngest student to ever do so, and started as a full time drama student when he was 17.

He worked regularly in theatre and TV after leaving drama school. His first big break came in 1994 when he was cast in a lead role in the Scottish drama "Takin' over the Asylum." He then moved to London where his career blossomed. On top of that, he spent several years as a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, and became famous from his lead roles in TV dramas "Blackpool" and "Casanova."

His childhood wish came true in 2005. David was assigned to play the cast role of the Doctor in the BBC'S new series of "Doctor Who" alongside Billie Piper after Christopher Eccleston decided to leave. Playing the Doctor made him a household name. His career has continued to rise since leaving Doctor Who in 2010, with lead roles in films, TV series and theatre.

He is tall with a height of six feet and one inch. His weight is also balanced and his pictures show his young photos. He has gone shirtless on many occasions.

Talking about his relationship life, he married actress Georgia Moffett on 30 December 2011, with whom he acted in the Doctor Who episode "The Doctor's Daughter." They have three children, of which one is by Moffett's previous relationship. Tennant does not reveal his personal life in the media much.

Talking about his popularity, Tennant was named "Coolest Man on TV" of 2007 in a Radio Times survey. He won the National Television Awards award for Most Popular Actor in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2010. He was voted 16th Sexiest Man in the World by a 2008 Cosmopolitan survey. Tennant was ranked the 24th most influential person in the British media, in the 9 July 2007 Media Guardian supplement of The Guardian. He appeared in the paper's annual media rankings in 2006. In December 2008, he was named as one of the most influential people in show business by British theatre and entertainment magazine The Stage, making him the fifth actor to achieve a ranking in the top 20. He was voted the third best dressed man in Britain in GQ reader's poll for 2013. He has been able to create a high net worth and has nice income. He is a British by nationality and he is of white ethnicity.
