His sports casting career started while attending Syracuse University, as an announcer for the Syracuse Blazers minor-league hockey team playing in the Eastern Hockey League and North American Hockey League. Bob Costas’ career as a professional broadcaster began at KMOX radio in St. Louis, where he announced for the Spirits of St. Louis of the American Basketball Association (ABA). He also worked for CBS Sports as a regional NBA and NFL announcer from 1976 to 1979. Costas joined NBC in the 1980. He has covered the Major League Baseball (MLB), National Basketball Association (NBA) and National Football League (NFL). He has also hosted the Kentucky Derby, U.S. Open golf tournament, and 2010 NHL Winter Classic. Costas has covered many Olympics for NBC including the Olympics in Vancouver in 2010, Beijing in 2008, Torino in 2006, Athens in 2004, Salt Lake City in 2002, Sydney in 2000, Atlanta in 1996, and Barcelona in 1992.He hosted the radio programs Costas Coast to Coast and Costas on the Radio since October 2011, Costas is a correspondent for Rock Center with Brian Williams.
