Canada-born New Zealand actress Anna Paquin was born on 24 July 1982, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada as Anna Helene Paquin. She moved with her family to New Zealand when she was a child. She was the daughter of two teachers. She grew up with her sister Katya and her brother Andrew. Paquin won the part of Flora McGrath in The Piano at the age of 9. Paquin won an Academy Award for the film at the tender age of 11. Her musical childhood hobbies in New Zealand included playing the viola, cello and piano.
