Maisie Williams is a British teenager actress. Born on 15 April 1997, William is best known for her role as Arya Stark in the HBO television series Game of Thrones based on George R.R. Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire series of a fantasy genre. In the show, Arya is a feisty, a bit of a rebel, a tomboy, she is also quite brave and quick thinking, she wants to be listened too but sees everything very black and white. In real life, Williams is right-handed, but plays Arya as left-handed in the show. Likewise, Williams with 5 feet height Williams is one of the few youngest actresses to receive some major awards. She won the 2012 Portal Award for Best Supporting Actress – Television, and the Portal Award for Best Young Actor. At 15 years of age, Williams is the youngest ever to win the Best Supporting Actress category. Earlier, in March 2013, she was nominated for a Young Artist Award as Best Young Supporting Actress in a TV Series. Williams grew up in Somerset, and attended Norton Hill School in Midsomer Norton. Since 2011, Williams has played Arya Stark, a tomboyish young girl from a well to do family, in the HBO fantasy TV series Game of Thrones. It was her first role and she was the first child actor in the show whose character killed another onscreen. She received great applaud for her performance. Williams continued to garner praise in the show's second season and HBO submitted her for consideration as Outstanding Supporting Actress at the 2012 Primetime Emmy Awards. In 2012, Williams played Loren Caleigh in the BBC series The Secret of Crickley Hall. She also appeared in a Funny or Die skit titled The Olympic Ticket Scalper. She appeared in the independent films Heatstroke (2012) and Gold (2013), and played Jay in the 2013 short film Corvidae. Williams signed up to play Lorna Thompson in the sci-fi film We Are Monsters, which is currently in pre-production and set for a 2014 release. The 16-year-old teenage Williams says her first love is dancing and she had learned dancing by attending Susan Hill’s School of Dance. Williams’ astrological sign is Aries and she is frightened of spiders. Williams’ mother is Hilary Williams.
Asked about her plans, Williams has said that there are a couple of acting things going on at the moment but nothing definite yet. Her aims at the moment are to get through school, work very hard and get good grades then maybe go to a stage school for 6th form then move to London. She wants to go to London because she wants to be in the centre of things and also she loves London.
One interesting fact about Williams is she does not love reading books. “I haven't read the books, partly because they're very graphic and also, they're really heavy and I'm not the strongest reader.”
How were her school days? She says, “When I was in primary school my best friend was a boy and we always goofed around, climbed trees, got holes in my trousers and muddied all my tops and things like that, a complete nightmare for the washing, but great fun. I would always put a bit of Maisie into everything."
